Veteran Benefits Resource Fair Slated April 9
Written By: Ian Silvester
The Financial Aid and Veteran Benefits Office at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host a veteran benefits resource
fair for ɵ veterans, their dependents, and the community. The event will provide
information on educational support and benefits.
The resource fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, in the
Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, room 129AB. Reservations are not required.
Heather Chance, the ɵ VA Certifying Official, said the fair is an opportunity to bring essential resources to the campus—meeting students where they are and be a central location for veterans in the Fort Smith area.
“Many of our veteran and military-affiliated students spend long hours on campus or have difficulty visiting multiple offices to access the support they need,” Chance said. “By bringing these resources directly to them, we create an opportunity for students to drop by, connect, and learn about the services available.”
Organizations providing resources include:
- Arkansas Army National Guard
- VA Center Fayetteville
- ɵ ROTC
- Student Veterans Organization
- Legal Aid of Arkansas
- Simmons Foods
This will be the second Veteran Benefits Resource Fair hosted by the university and the first time it will be open to the public. The fair comes on the heels of the university’s recent announcement of being awarded silver status as a Military Friendly University.
Public parking for the event will be in lot B, along Grand Avenue between N. 50th and N. 52nd St.
